Abstract

Predmet istraživanja ovog diplomskog rada je značaj bankarstva u sjeni u okviru domaćeg i globalnog financijskog sustava. Bankarstvo u sjeni nije jednoznačno određeno. Ipak, većina autora definira bankarstvo u sjeni kao aktivnosti koje se odvijaju izvan reguliranog bankovnog sustava. Pojam bankarstva u sjeni postoji već stoljećima, no pažnju ponovno dobiva nakon globalne financijske krize 2007. i 2008. godine, kada je odigralo iznimno važnu ulogu u globalnom kolapsu gospodarstva. Recentna istraživanja i mjere svjetskih regulatora ukazuju na poboljšanje regulacije bankarstva u sjeni u okviru ekonomskih aktivnosti kojima se bave banke u sjeni. Cilj ovog istraživanja je analizirati regulatornu arbitražu u kontekstu bankarstva u sjeni u pretkriznom razdoblju i za vrijeme globalne financijske krize, obzirom da su različite protuciklične mjere središnje banke pridonijele rastu bankarstva u sjeni i potaknule regulatornu arbitražu. Istraživanje se temelji na ekonometrijskom modelu VAR putem programske potpore Eviews 10. Primjenjivost očekivanih rezultata istraživanja odnosi se na značaj i veličinu bankarstva u sjeni, međusobnu izloženost s odabranim sektorima i ukazivanje prostora za boljom regulacijom bankarstva u sjeni. Popratni testovi u ekonometrijskom modelu ukazuju na signifikantne učinke pretpostavki ovoga diplomskog rada. U radu su korišteni sekundarni izvori podataka prikupljeni iz domaće i strane znanstvene i stručne literature, kao i metode deskriptivne statistike, indukcije, dedukcije, sinteze i analize brojčanih podataka.

Abstract (english)

The subject of this master’s thesis is the importance of shadow banking within the domestic financial system and the financial system globally. Shadow banking is not explicitly defined, however, most authors define shadow banking as activities that take place outside the regulated banking system. The concept of shadow banking has been around for centuries, but it has regained attention following the global financial crisis of 2007 and 2008, when it played an extremely important role in the global economic collapse. Recent research and measures by global regulators indicate an improvement in the regulation of shadow banking in the context of the economic activities pursued by shadow banks. The aim of this research is to analyze regulatory arbitrage in the context of shadow banking in the pre-crisis period and during the global financial crisis, as various counter-cyclical measures by the central bank contributed to the growth of shadow banking and encouraged regulatory arbitrage. The research is based on the econometric model of VAR with the support of EViews 10. The accompanying tests in the econometric model indicate the significant effects of the assumptions of this thesis. The paper will use secondary sources of data collected from domestic and foreign scientific and professional literature, as well as methods of descriptive statistics, deduction, synthesis and analysis of numerical data.
