Abstract

Zdravstvena kriza uzrokovana COVID-19 virusom uzrokovala je dosad nezabilježene posljedice na nacionalne ekonomije. Nužne mjere za suzbijanje širenja virusa koje su donijele većina zemalja odrazile su se na smanjenje ekonomske aktivnosti, ali ujedno predstavljaju veliku prijetnju stabilnosti globalnog financijskog sustava. Investicijski fondovi kao značaj dio financijskog sustava pogođeni su u velikoj mjeri velikim odljevima i padom neto imovine. U radu se objašnjava i analizira učinak korona virusa na sektor investicijskih fondova u Hrvatskoj te se uspoređuje sa učincima posljednje globalne financijske krize 2008. Metodologija se temelji na pretraživanju i analizi različite znanstvene i stručne literature te deskriptivnoj statističkoj analizi. Zaključak rada pokazuje da su učinci pandemije na sektor investicijskih fondova u Hrvatskoj u nekim segmentima veći nego što je bilo posljednje financijske krize zbog veće značajnosti investicijskih fondova u financijskom sustavu Hrvatske.

Abstract (english)

The health crisis caused by the corona virus has led to unprecedented consequences for national economies. The necessary measures implemented by most countries to combat the spread of the virus reflect a decline in economic activity, but also pose a major threat to the stability of the global financial system. Investment funds, as a significant part of the financial system, have been affected to a great extent by large outflows and a decrease in net asset value. This thesis will ex-plain and examine the effects of the corona virus on the investment funds sector in Croatia and compare those effects to the ones during the previous global financial crisis in 2008. The method-ology is based on examining and reviewing the various scientific and professional literature and descriptive statistical analysis. The conclusion indicates that the effects of the pandemic on the investment funds sector in Croatia are in some segments more extensive than those during the previous financial crisis due to the greater importance of investment funds in Croatia’s financial system.
