Abstract

U ovom diplomskom radu promatraju se zemlje bogate resursima, kao i povezanost bogatstva resursa s gospodarskim razvojem zemalja. Osim materijalnih resursa i ljudskog kapitala, postoje dakle i prirodna bogatstva koja se mogu iskoristiti na razne načine. Pojedine zemlje koriste svoja prirodna bogatstva te usmjeravaju njihovo iskorištavanje za gospodarski napredak. Međutim, postoje i zemlje kojima bogatstvo resursa nije pomoglo u ostvarenju boljih ekonomskih rezultata jer bogatstvo resursa samo po sebi nažalost ne vodi gospodarskom rastu i razvoju. Više je razloga radi kojih određene zemlje bogate resursima ekonomski uspijevaju, dok druge ne ostvaruju značajne pomake u gospodarstvu. Čak štoviše, u pojedinim zemljama bogatstvo resursa rezultiralo je sukobima i ekonomskim nazadovanjem. Do negativnog odnosa između bogatstva resursima i gospodarskog rasta najčešće dolazi radi lošeg političkog uređenja zemlje, nekvalitetnih institucionalnih postavki ili neučinkovitog upravljanja resursima. Za ostvarenje gospodarskog razvoja potrebna je interakcija različitih elemenata. Uz odgovarajuće razvojne strategije i učinkovitost institucija te političke okvire moguće je usmjeriti gospodarstvo ka održivom razvoju.

Abstract (english)

This paper's main topic are resource-rich economies, as well as the connection between resource abundance and the economic development. In addition to material resources and human capital, there are also natural resources that can be used in various ways. Some countries exploit their natural resources and direct its exploitation towards economic progress. However, there are also countries in which resource abundance has not helped to achieve better economic results because resource abundance alone unfortunately does not lead to economic growth and prosperity. There are several reasons why certain resource-rich countries are economically successful, while other countries do not achieve significant economic shifts. Moreover, in some countries, the resource abundance has resulted in conflicts and economic setbacks. The negative relationship between resource abundance and economic growth is most often due to the poor political organization of the country, poor institutional settings or inefficient resource management. The realization of economic development requires the interaction of different elements. With appropriate development strategies and effective institutions and policy frameworks, it is possible to steer the economy towards sustainable development.
