Abstract

U ovom diplomskom radu prikazano je stanje poljoprivrednog sektora u Europskoj uniji. Poljoprivreda uzrokuje velike količine emisija stakleničkih plinova koje su prijetnja klimatskim promjenama s kojima se svakodnevno susrećemo. Upravo zbog te činjenice javlja se potreba za poboljšanjem postojećih politika, a najvažnija i obrađivana u ovom radu je Zajednička poljoprivredna politika. Sektor stočarstva koji čini oko polovicu poljoprivredne proizvodnje najveći je zagađivač emisija ugljikovog dioksida kao i metana. Što Europska unija čini po pitanju poboljšanja održivosti stočarstva te kakva je budućnost poljoprivrednog sektora analizira se u ovome radu na temelju podataka na stranici Eurostata. Kroz rad je pokazano kako je stočarski sektor, koji je jedan od najvećih emitera stakleničkih plinova, ujedno i rješenje za probleme nastale zagađenjem zraka. Stoga je Europska unija ograničila emisije kroz pravilno skladištenje i primjenu gnoja, održivu poljoprivredu, čuvajući zdravlje životinja te razvoj tehnologija za kontinuirano mrežno praćenje životinja.

Abstract (english)

This thesis presents the state of the agricultural sector in the European Union. Agriculture causes large amounts of greenhouse gas emissions that are a threat to the climate change we face on a daily basis. Precisely because of this fact, there is a need to improve existing policies, and the most important and elaborated in this paper is the Common Agricultural Policy. The livestock sector, which accounts for about half of agricultural production, is the biggest polluter of carbon dioxide and methane emissions. What the European Union is doing to improve the sustainability of livestock and the future of the agricultural sector will be analyzed in this paper based on data on the Eurostat website. The thesis shows that livestock sector, which is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases, is also a solution to the problems caused by air pollution. Therefore, the European Union has limited emissions through the proper storage and application of manure, sustainable agriculture, the preservation of animal health and the development of technologies for continuous online monitoring of animals.
