Abstract

Ovaj diplomski rad pruža pregled i komparativnu analizu odgovora pet odabranih multilateralnih razvojnih banaka (Svjetske banke, Europske investicijske banke, Europske banke za obnovu i razvoj, Nove razvojne banke i Azijske infrastrukturne investicijske banke) na ekonomsku krizu uzrokovanu pandemijom COVID-19. Pritom se analiziraju različiti odgovori multilateralnih razvojnih banaka na COVID-19 krizu na globalnoj razini te ističu različitost obujma i oblika njihova financiranja i potpore gospodarskom oporavku država tijekom i nakon krize. Rad pruža stoga komparativnu analizu obuhvata njihovog utjecaja i aktivnosti od početka 2020. godine uz naglasak na instrumente i politike korištene u provedbi postavljenih planova. Navedeno se također uspoređuje s reakcijom istih banaka za vrijeme prethodne globalne financijske krize s ciljem jasnog prikaza sličnosti i razlika u njihovom odgovoru. Dodatno, u cilju sveobuhvatne analize, ovaj rad pruža pregled nastanka i razvoja odabranih multilateralnih razvojnih banaka te njihovog djelovanja i uloge u svjetskoj ekonomiji uz isticanje izvora financiranja i instrumenata koje koriste. Ističe također i područja njihovog djelovanja koja su raznolika, no sa zajedničkim ciljem poticanja svjetske ekonomije i pomoći u rješavanju ključnih problema u zemljama u kojima djeluju. Ekonomski šokovi uzrokovani pandemijom virusa COVID-19 obrazloženi su po određenim pokazateljima te sektorima na globalnoj razini. Šokovi koji su nastali na tržištu kao rezultat krize uzrokovane pandemijom COVID-19 te prethodne globalne financijske krize ostavili su dugoročne posljedice na globalnoj razini. Komparativnom analizom u radu se također ukazuje na sličnosti i razlike između istih.

Abstract (english)

This thesis provides an overview and comparative analysis of the responses of five selected multilateral development banks (the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the New Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank) to the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, the various responses of multilateral development banks to the COVID-19 crisis at a global level are analyzed and the differences in the volume and form of their financing and support for the economic recovery of countries during and after the crisis are highlighted. The paper provides a comparative analysis of the scope of their influence and activities since the beginning of 2020 with an emphasis on the instruments and policies used in the implementation of the set plans. The above is also compared with the reaction of the same banks during the previous global financial crisis with the aim of clearly showing the similarities and differences in their response. Additionally, with the aim of a comprehensive analysis, this paper provides an overview of the origin and development of selected multilateral development banks, their operation and role in the world economy, highlighting the sources of financing and the instruments they use. It also highlights the areas of their activity, which are diverse, but with the common goal of stimulating the world economy and helping to solve key problems in the countries where they operate. The economic shocks caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic are explained by certain factors and sectors at the global level. The shocks that occurred on the market as a result of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the previous global financial crisis left long-term consequences at the global level. The comparative analysis in the paper also indicates the similarities and differences between them.
