Abstract

Velike gospodarske prijevare i kriminal potaknuli su razvoj forenzičkog računovodstva kao sustava za prepoznavanje i suzbijanje takvih aktivnosti. Računovodstvene manipulacije često se koriste radi modifikacije financijskih izvještaja kako bi se obmanuli korisnici ili utjecalo na poslovne ishode. Forenzično računovodstvo, koje koristi računovodstvene, revizijske i istraživačke vještine, igra ključnu ulogu u otkrivanju i suzbijanju takvih manipulacija, identificirajući potencijalne prijevare i pomažući u razvoju unutarnjih kontrola. Primjeri poput Ponzijeve sheme, skandala oko Enrona i slučaja WorldComa naglašavaju važnost transparentnosti, stroge regulacije i neovisne revizije u sprječavanju računovodstvenih prijevara s potencijalno katastrofalnim posljedicama za ekonomiju. Shodno tome, ovaj završni rad usredotočen je na problem računovodstvenih manipulacija u financijskim izvještajima, što često rezultira neistinitim i nepouzdanim prikazom financijskog stanja poduzeća. Analizira se mehanizam nastanka ovih manipulacija putem kreativnog računovodstva te su na primjerima iz prakse objašnjene najčešće vrste manipulacija. Cilj rada bio je teorijski definirati pojam poslovne forenzike i računovodstvenih manipulacija te analizirati najpoznatije primjere iz povijesti.

Abstract (english)

Large-scale economic fraud and crime have encouraged the development of forensic accounting as a system for identifying and suppressing such activities. Accounting manipulations are often used to modify financial statements in order to mislead users or influence business outcomes. Forensic accounting, which uses accounting, auditing and investigative skills, plays a key role in detecting and countering such manipulations, identifying potential fraud and helping to develop internal controls. Examples such as the Ponzi scheme, the Enron scandal and the WorldCom case highlight the importance of transparency, strict regulation and independent auditing in preventing accounting fraud with potentially catastrophic consequences for the economy. Accordingly, this final thesis is focused on the problem of accounting manipulations in financial statements, which often results in an untrue and unreliable presentation of the company's financial condition. The mechanism of the creation of these manipulations is analyzed through creative accounting, and the most common types of manipulations are explained using examples from practice. The aim of the work was to theoretically define the concept of business forensics and accounting manipulations and to analyze the most famous examples from history.
