Abstract

U suvremenom svijetu postoji veliki broj turističkih destinacija koje se međusobno nadmeću ostvariti što bolju konkurentnu prednost na turističkom tržištu, a zbog vrlo slične turističke ponude u samim destinacijama na Mediteranu je broj konkurenata još izraženiji.
Kako bi jedna turistička destinacija što bolje iskoristila svoj potencijal u odnosu na neku drugu destinaciju, ona se može okrenuti svojim komparativnim prednostima, valorizirati ih i tako postati konkurentnije na turističkom tržištu. Prema modelu Ritchieja i Croucha, na konkurentnost destinacije utječu njihova mikro i makro okruženja, turistička politika, strategije, temeljni resursi kojim destinacija raspolaže, no na kraju je najvažnije koliko uspješno ih destinacija plasira na turističko tržište.
Svrha ovoga rada je analizirati konkurentnost dvije otočne hrvatske destinacije: otok Hvar i otok Korčulu. Navedeni otoci su odabrani zato što dijele mnoge sličnosti koje se mogu analizirati: nalaze se u Dalmaciji, spadaju među veće hrvatske otoke, imaju slične klimatske uvjete i mogućnost kreiranja turističke ponude. Ali, također, ove dvije destinacije se i razlikuju jer se nalaze u dvije različite županije te samim time imaju različite strategije, fokusiraju se na različita emitivna tržišta te imaju različite kulturne resurse. Istraživanjem navedenih prednosti iz Ritchie i Crouch modela prikazat će se prednosti i nedostaci destinacija u analiziranim kategorijama te model kako mogu valorizirati svoje komparativne prednosti i ostvariti što bolji položaj na željenim turističkim tržištima

Abstract (english)

Nowadays there is a huge number of tourism destinations which compete to achieve the best possible competitive advantage on tourism market, while in the Mediterranean the number of competitors is even bigger due to the very similar tourism offer. A tourism destination can maximize its potential by turning to competitive advantages. The competitiveness of a destination according to the model by Ritchie and Crouch is affected by its micro and macro environments, tourist policies, strategies and key recourses, but the most important thing is how good does the destination capitalise all of them on the tourism market. The goal of the thesis is to analyse two island destinations in Croatia: Hvar Island and Korčula Island. The islands share few similarities: both are located in Dalmatia, both islands are one of the biggest in Croatia and both have a fair amount of tourist demand. They also have differences: they are located in two different counties of Croatia and have different strategies; they are focused on different market segments, and both have distinctive cultural resources. By analysing the advantages using the model created by Ritchie and Crouch the thesis will show the pros and cons of the destinations in each of the categories and which advantages should they focus on to maximise their resources and to create an competitive advantage on the tourist market.
