Abstract

Održivi razvoj značajno se razlikuje od pukog ekonomskog rasta. Njegov cilj je postići uravnotežen rast i napredak, što se očituje kroz njegove brojne prednosti, poput poboljšanja kvalitete života pojedinaca i zajednica te naglaska na korištenju obnovljivih izvora energije radi očuvanja okoliša. Opstanak našeg planeta predstavlja veliki izazov za čovječanstvo, a održivi razvoj temelji se na ideji očuvanja života na Zemlji. Postoji niz ciljeva održivog razvoja, usmjerenih na zadovoljenje potreba sadašnjih generacija, a da pritom ne ugroze mogućnosti budućih generacija. Jedan od ključnih problema današnjice je glad, raširen problem koji pogađa mnoge ljude diljem svijeta, uzrokujući ozbiljne zdravstvene probleme i često smrt. Dok mnogi pate od nedostatka hrane, velike količine hrane svakodnevno se bacaju. Iskorjenjivanje gladi jedan je od glavnih ciljeva održivog razvoja, a njegovo ostvarenje značajno bi poboljšalo kvalitetu života te podiglo životni standard. Postizanje ovog cilja moglo bi značajno doprinijeti rješavanju globalnog problema gladi. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je analizirati problem gladi na globalnoj razini, u Europskoj uniji i u Republici Hrvatskoj, te istražiti strategije za ostvarenje drugog cilja održivog razvoja – iskorjenjivanje gladi.

Abstract (english)

Sustainable development is significantly different from mere economic growth. Its goal is to achieve balanced growth and progress, which is manifested through its many advantages, such as improving the quality of life of individuals and communities and emphasizing the use of renewable energy sources to preserve the environment. The survival of our planet represents a great challenge for humanity, and sustainable development is based on the idea of preserving life on Earth. There are a number of sustainable development goals aimed at meeting the needs of current generations without jeopardizing the opportunities of future generations. One of the key problems of today is hunger, a widespread problem that affects many people around the world, causing serious health problems and often death. While many suffer from a lack of food, large amounts of food are wasted every day. Eradication of hunger is one of the main goals of sustainable development, and its achievement would significantly improve the quality of life and raise the standard of living. Achieving this goal could significantly contribute to solving the global hunger problem. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the problem of hunger at the global level, in the European union and in the Republic of Croatia, and to explore strategies for achieving the second goal of sustainable development - eradicating hunger.
