Abstract

Uvođenje međunarodnih sankcija Rusiji od strane EU-a, SAD-a i drugih zemalja od 2014. godine te pojačanim sankcijama od 2022. godine zbog invazije na Ukrajinu imalo je značajan utjecaj na Rusiju. Cilj sankcija bio je oslabiti rusko gospodarstvo i otežati financiranje rata. U radu se analizira financijski sustav i gospodarstvo Rusije i učinci međunarodnih sankcija na rusko gospodarstvo i financijski sustav. Monetarna politika Ruske središnje banke i njeni učinci prije i nakon uvođenja međunarodnih sankcija su također ocijenjeni. Analizirani su ključni instrumenti monetarne politike poput stabilizacije inflacije, upravljanja deviznim tečajem i prilagodbe kamatnih stopa, kao i učinci mjera monetarne politike na tržište rada, investicije i ukupni gospodarski rast. Ruska središnja banka uspješno je stabilizirala financijski sustav i ublažila kratkoročne negativne učinke sankcija. Usprkos pravovremenim odgovorima središnje banke na promjene u gospodarstvu, dugoročne posljedice sankcija na rusko gospodarstvo će biti vidljive tek u nadolazećim godinama.

Abstract (english)

The introduction of international sanctions against Russia by the EU, the US, and other countries since 2014 along with intensified sanctions since 2022 due to the invasion on Ukraine, has had a significant impact on Russia. The objective of these sanctions was to weaken the Russian economy and to hinder the financing of the war. This thesis analyzes Russia's financial system and economy and the effects of international sanctions on Russia's economy and financial system. The monetary policy of the Central Bank of Russia and its effects before and after the introduction of international sanctions are also assessed. Key monetary policy instruments, such as inflation stabilization, exchange rate management, and interest rate adjustments are examined, along with the effects of monetary policy measures on the labor market, investments, and overall economic growth. The Central Bank of Russia successfully stabilized the financial system and mitigated the short-term negative effects of the sanctions. Despite the central bank's timely responses to changes in the economy, the long-term consequences of sanctions on the Russian economy will only become apparent in the coming years.
