Abstract

Predmet analize ovog sveučilišnog specijalističkog rada jest istraživanje koncepta digitalnog eura kao digitalne valute Europske središnje banke, njegovih prednosti i nedostataka, determinanti prihvaćanja digitalnog eura poput upotrebe gotovine, razine digitalizacije i međuovisnosti s razinom gospodarskog razvoja, te procesa tranzicije prema bezgotovinskom društvu. Projekt digitalni euro Europske središnje banke je inovativan odgovor na promišljanja o budućnosti sredstava plaćanja u europodručju. Pretpostavka ovog rada jest da bi se zemlje unutar europodručja s višim udjelom korištenja gotovine u plaćanjima pritom mogle suočiti s većim izazovima u prelasku na digitalno euro. S druge strane, zemlje s nižom razinom korištenja gotovine u plaćanjima u tom smislu potencijalno imaju bolje preduvjete za lakše prihvaćanje digitalnog eura.

Abstract (english)

The subject of analysis of this university specialist paper is the research of the concept of the digital euro as a digital currency of the European Central Bank, its advantages and disadvantages, determinants of the acceptance of the digital euro such as cash usage, the level of digitalization and its interdependence with the level of economic development, and the process of transition towards a cashless society. The European Central Bank's digital euro project is an innovative response to the considerations about the future of payment instruments in the euro area. The assumption of this paper is that countries within the euro area with a higher share of cash usage in payments could face greater challenges in switching to the digital euro. On the other hand, countries with a lower level of cash usage in payments potentially have better prerequisites for easier acceptance of the digital euro.
