Abstract

Investicijski fondovi oduvijek su bili važni sudionici financijskih tržišta diljem svijeta te su koristeći prednosti diverzifikacije i profesionalnog upravljanja privlačili različite profile investitora. Njihova specifična i prilagodljiva podvrsta - alternativni investicijski fondovi, institucije su kojima se posvećuje sve više pažnje u posljednje vrijeme, ne samo u smislu njihove snažne regulacije nego i potražnje investitora. Ovaj diplomski rad nastoji prikazati osnovne karakteristike alternativnih investicijskih fondova te ukazati na glavne trendove na tržištu. Posljednja financijska kriza bila je okidač koji je potaknuo investitore na pronalazak instrumenata i imovinskih razreda koji mogu generirati više povrate od onih koje je bilo moguće ostvariti ulažući u tradicionalne imovinske oblike. Unatoč dosadašnjim dobrim rezultatima i brzim stopama rasta, procvat tržišta alternativnih investicijskih fondova tek se očekuje.

Abstract (english)

Investment funds have always been important in financial markets worldwide which have been attracting different kinds of investors because of related advantages of diversification and professional management. Their specific and flexible subgroup - alternative investment funds, are institutions which are getting more attention lately - not only in terms of strong regulation but also in terms of investor demand. This master thesis seeks to describe the main characteristics of alternative investment funds and point out the main trends on the market. Latest financial crisis was a trigger that encouraged investors to seek for instruments and asset classes able to generate higher returns in comparison to traditional asset classes. Even with the previous good results and fast growth, a boom in alternative investment funds market is still expected.
