Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je analizirati različite oblike sekuritizacijskih struktura u financijskom sustavu, razloge njihova korištenja te rizike koji dolaze s tim. Analiza je provedena korištenjem sekundarnih izvora. Rad započinje teorijskim okvirom sekuritizacijskog procesa te razvijanju sekuritizacijskih vrijednosnica kroz vrijeme. Nakon toga u drugom dijelu rad se bazira na različitim oblicima sekuritizacijskih vrijednosnica, motivima originatora i investitora, te rizicima svojstvenima takvom tipu vrijednosnica. Iza toga slijedi obrada računovodstvenog tretmana sekuritiziranih stavki, porezni status strukturnih vrijednosnica te za kraj poglavlja, uloga sekuritizacijskih subjekata posebne namjene. Predmet četvrtog poglavlja je analiza utjecaja sekuritizacije na gospodarstvo gdje će se na kratko proći kroz strukturu tržišta sekuritizacije kako bi se dobila slika trenutnog stanja, zatim će se analizirati utjecaj sekuritizacije na krizu drugorazrednih kredita koja je svoj epicentar imala u SAD-u, te analiza utjecaja na gospodarstvo unutar Europske Unije. Nakon analize najsuvremenijih gospodarstava proučavat će se mogućnosti primjene sekuritizacije u Republici Hrvatskoj. Analiza je pokazala da je sekuritizacija alat koji može imati veoma pozitivne učinke na ekonomiju a posebno na povećanje kapaciteta, stabilnosti i profitabilnosti financijskih institucija, što daljnjim korištenjem vrijednosnica na sekundarnom tržištu omogućuje produbljivanje financijskog sustava. Bankama se otvara mogućnost dodatnih plasmana u sektore kojima je financiranje od velike važnosti. Nadalje, omogućuje se financijskim institucijama da očiste bilance koje su pretrpane neprihodujućom imovinom. S druge strane, sekuritizacijski alat također može imati katastrofalne učinke koji su viđeni tijekom krize drugorazrednih kredita. Financijski sustav Sjedinjenih Američkih Država predvodi u inovativnosti, rastu i korištenju sekuritizacijskih struktura. Članice Europske Unije različito su razvijale sekuritizacijska tržišta, te se između članica može primijetiti korištenje različitih oblika koji odgovaraju razvijenim sektorima unutar tih članica. Financijski sustav Republike Hrvatske još nije dostigao potrebnu razinu za korištenje ovog oblika financiranja, što brojke i pokazuju.

Abstract (english)

The goal of this paper is to analyze various forms of securitization structures in the financial system, causes of their use and the risks that they produce. Analysis is conducted using secondary sources. The paper begins with the theoretical point of the securitization process and with the development of structured securities through time. After that, in the second part the paper is based on different forms of securitized structures, motives of originators and of investors, and on the typical risks that come with owning and originating these kinds of securities. After that is concluded, the accounting treatment, tax treatment and the role of the special purpose vehicle will be discussed. Through the fourth chapter the point will be on the analysis of the of the securitizational impact on the economy, where there will be a brief walkthrough through the structure of the securitization market so that the picture of the current state can be shown, next there will be an analysis of the impact on the subprime mortgage crisis which had its epicenter in the US. Then the impact of securitization on the economy of the European Union will be discussed. After the analysis of the sovereign economies the paper will shift its center point to the economy of the Republic of Croatia and the potential use of securitization. The analysis has shown that the securitization is a tool that can have positive effects on the economy and especially on the growth of capacity, stability and profitability of financial institutions, and with the further use of these securities in the secondary market even financial system deepening can be achieved. Banks can use the freed capital to direct the flow of money to the sectors that need funding the most. If the tool of securitization is in the wrong hands there can be catastrophic impacts which could be seen in the subprime mortgage crisis. The financial system of the United States of America leads in the innovation, growth and use of securitization structures. The members of the European Union have developed different sectors of the securitization market so that the difference could be matched with the member state economy. The Croatian financial system has not yet reached the required level of development to be able to use this kind of financing.
