Abstract

U Republici Hrvatskoj kreditne institucije definiraju se kao pravne osobe čija je glavna
djelatnost primanje depozita ili drugih povratnih sredstava od javnosti i odobravanje kredita za
svoj račun, ili izdavanje sredstva plaćanja u obliku elektroničkog novca. U kreditne instituc ije
ubrajaju se banke, štedne banke, stambene štedionice i institucije za elektronički novac. S druge
strane, financijske institucije su pravne osobe koje nisu kreditna institucija i čija je isključ iva
ili pretežna djelatnost stjecanje udjela u kapitalu odnosno pružanje jedne ili više osnovnih
financijskih usluga, osim primanja depozita ili drugih povratnih sredstava. Kroz ovaj rad obradit
će se pravni okvir kreditnih unija, financijskih institucija sa sjedištem u Republici Hrvatskoj
koje je od Hrvatske narodne banke dobivaju odobrenje za rad, te će se napraviti njihova
usporedba sa kreditnim unijama Europske unije.

Abstract (english)

In the Republic of Croatian credit institutions are defined as a legal entity whose main activity
is to take deposits or other repayable funds from the public and grant credit to it's account, or
the issuance of means of payment in the form of electronic money. The credit institutio ns
include banks, savings banks, building societies and electronic money institutions. On the other
hand, financial institutions are legal entities that are not credit institutions and whose content is
exclusively or predominantly activity to acquire holdings or the provision of one or more basic
financial services, except of receiving deposits or other repayable funds. This paper will cover
the legal framework of credit unions, financial institutions headquartered in the Republic of
Croatia which recive a work permit from the Croatian National Bank, and will make their
comparison with the Credit Unions of the European Union.
