Abstract

One of the most important tasks of any organization is to motivate employees so they can contribute to the organization by using their skills and dedication. The subject of the thesis is motivation that encourages an individual to achieve certain goals with a particular focus on two types of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic. Furthermore, final thesis seeks to explain motivation through various theories and the process of motivation itself. The motivation process is about motives that drive an individual to take actions and two types of motivation indicate whether they are driven by internal or external factors. Intrinsic motivation is influenced by stimuli that affect the individual internally, while extrinsic motivation is conditioned by stimuli from the individual’s environment. The thesis is divided into six parts. Empirical research was conducted order to examine whether employees are driven by intrinsic or extrinsic motivation factors and which motives are dominant in each of these types of motivation.
