Abstract

Emocije su bitna sastavnica ljudskog ponašanja i djelovanja. Svaki dan proživljavamo s emocijama te je bitno uvidjeti te na ispravan način tumačiti i neverbalne znakove izražavanja emocija. Tu dolazimo do emocionalne inteligencije koja od početka 21. stoljeća dolazi do izražaja kao zasebna tema u području poslovnog upravljanja. Svjesnost vlastitih emocija i njihovog utjecaja na vlastito ponašanje važno je za kvalitetnu interakciju s drugima. Kako emocije i njihovo pravilno tumačenje određuju uspjeh komunikacije, tako i vođa i njegova obilježja određuju uspjeh organizacije u cjelini. Dakle, kako bi organizacija bila uspješna u cjelini, vođa osim stručnih kompetencija i sposobnosti treba posjedovati emocionalnu inteligenciju. Kako bi uspješno upravljali i vodili članove organizacije bitno je pronaći pravi način za motivaciju istih. Zaposlenik koji je zadovoljan uvjetima na radu uvelike će pozitivno djelovati na uspjeh organizacije svojim povećanim trudom i željom za napretkom. Biti vođa i uskladiti sve zahtjeve je vrlo težak posao, ali je dokazano da se može naučiti i usavršiti. Svaki vođa ima određeni stil vodstva kojeg uvelike definiraju karakteristike samog vođe. Novije teorije nalažu korištenje situacijskog pristupa vodstvu, no u praksi se većinom koristi samo jedan stil.
U radu se istražuje povezanost emocionalne inteligencije i stila vodstva. Razmatra se utjecaj razine emocionalne inteligencije na način upravljanja ljudima i organizacijom. Zbog sve veće svjesnosti posjedovanja emocionalne inteligencije i njenog velikog utjecaja na praksu i poslovanje odabrana je kao determinanta koja određuje razliku korištenja stila vođenja kako u privatnom tako i u javnom sektoru.
Cilj rada je utvrditi odnos emocionalne inteligencije, odnosno karakteristika ličnosti (iskazane kao „ugodnost“ u sklopu testova osobnosti pet velikih karakteristika (eng. Big Five)) i stilova vodstva (mjerene Likertovim dimenzijama vodstva). Istraživanje će se provesti pomoću anketnog upitnika. Anketirati će se menadžeri različitih poslovnih organizacija te ravnatelji škola kako bi dobili razliku privatnog i javnog sektora.

Abstract (english)

Emotions are an essential component of human behavior and action. We live with emotions every day, so it is important to see and interpret non-verbal signs of expressing emotions in the right way. Here we come to emotional intelligence, which since the beginning of the 21st century has come to the fore as a separate topic in the field of business management. Awareness of one's own emotions and their impact on one's own behavior is important for quality interaction with others. As emotions and their proper interpretation determine the success of communication, so the leader and his characteristics determine the success of the organization in general. Thus, in order for an organization to be successful in general, a leader in addition to professional competencies and abilities needs to possess emotional intelligence. In order to successfully manage and lead the members of the organization, it is important to find the right way to motivate them. An employee who is satisfied with the working conditions will greatly positively affect the success of the organization with his increased effort and desire for progress. Being a leader and aligning all requirements is a very difficult job, but it has been proven that it can be learned and perfected. Every leader has a certain leadership style that is largely defined by the characteristics of the leader himself. Newer theories dictate the use of a situational approach to leadership, but in practice only one style is mostly used.
The paper explores the connection between emotional intelligence and leadership style. It consider the influence of the level of emotional intelligence on the way people and the organization are managed. Due to the growing awareness of possessing emotional intelligence and its great impact on practice and business, it was chosen as a determinant that determines the difference in the use of leadership style in private and public sectors.
The aim of this paper is to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence, ie personality characteristics (expressed as "comfort" as part of personality tests of the Big Five) and leadership styles (measured by Likert's dimensions of leadership). The research will be conducted using a survey questionnaire. Managers from various business organizations and school principals will be interviewed to distinguish between the private and public sectors.
