Abstract

U posljednjih nekoliko godina područje Hrvatske pogodile su brojne prirodne katastrofe kao što su poplave i požari, a u posljednjih godinu dana i potresi. Osim na psihološko stanje ljudi, katastrofe su ostavile velika oštećenja i na imovini stanovništva. Većina nekretnina u trenutku potresa nije imala ugovoreno imovinsko osiguranje koje bi nadoknadilo barem određeni dio štete pa je jedino financijsko utočište građana preostala država. Istraživanje unutar ovoga rada pokazalo je kako većina ispitanika nije imala ugovoreno imovinsko osiguranje, nije upućena u poslovanje osiguravateljskih društava te nema povjerenja u poslovanje istih. Prikazano je kako bi državni poticaji i povećanje informiranosti kroz razne kanale djelovali na povećanje broja ugovorenih polica osiguranja i ukupne premije. Od zagrebačkog potresa u ožujku 2020. zabilježen je značajan porast broja ugovorenih imovinskih osiguranja zbog povećane seizmološke aktivnosti. Može se zaključiti da Hrvatska prema broju ugovorenih imovinskih osiguranja uvelike zaostaje za ostalim članicama Europske unije, kao i za zemljama koje se nalaze na područjima povećane seizmološke aktivnosti. Same prednosti osiguranja daleko nadilaze njegove nedostatke, a područje Republike Hrvatske trebalo bi djelovati u smjeru poticanja i osvješćivanja stanovništva o koristima ugovaranja osiguranja, njihovoj društvenoj ulozi i sigurnosti koju pružaju svojim osiguranicima.

Abstract (english)

In the last few years, the area of Croatia has been affected by numerous natural disasters such as floods, fires and during the last year earthquakes. Apart from leaving consequences for the psychological state of the people, the catastrophes left damage to the material property of the population. Most people at the time of the earthquake did not have property insurance that would compensate for at least a certain part of the damage, so the only financial refuge for citizens was the government. The research within this thesis showed that the majority of respondents did not have contracted property insurance, were not informed about the business of the insurance companies or were not confident about their business at all. It is shown that increase of government incentives and information flow through various channels would have the effect of increasing the number of contracted insurance policies and total premiums. Since the Zagreb earthquake in March 2020, a significant increase in the number of contracted property insurances has been recorded due to increased seismic activity. It was shown that Croatia straggles far behind other EU member states in terms of the number of contracted property insurances, as well as for countries in areas of increased seismic activity. It can be concluded that the advantages of insurance outweigh its disadvantages and that in the Republic of Croatia action should be taken to encourage and raise awareness of the benefits of contracting insurance, their social role and security provided to policyholders.
