Abstract

Posljednjih desetak godina kao alternativa tiskanom novcu koriste se kriptovalute. Mnogi investitori i investicijske kompanije u to vrijeme su predviđali veliki pad vrijednosti kriptovaluta te brzi raspad cijelog tržišta kriptovaluta. Međutim, dogodilo se upravo suprotno. Kriptovalute postoje i danas, a neke od njih su postigle tolike vrijednosti da se u njih dugoročno ulaže. Kriptovalute se temelje na Peer-to-Peer sustavu koji simbolizira trgovanje izravno, bez posrednika odnosno treće strane. Transakcije unutar sustava se pohranjuju u javno distribuiranu knjigu koja se naziva blockchain. Sustav koristi vlastitu jedinicu koja se naziva Bitcoin. Bitcoin kao decentralizirana digitalna valuta podrazumijeva da ne postoji središnja organizacija poput banke ili države koja upravlja cijelim sustavom. Blockchain danas ima veliki utjecaj na svijet u kojem živimo. U pravilu sve najveće globalne tvrtke kao npr. Walmart, Google, Facebook, IBM ga na neki način upotrebljavaju u svojem poslovanju. Ukoliko se u budućnosti uvede na pravi način koristi za krajnje korisnike bi mogle biti znatne u vidu veće brzine usluga te dodatne sigurnosti mrežne komunikacije.

Abstract (english)

In the last ten years, cryptocurrencies have been used as an alternative to printed money. Many investers and investment companies at that time predicted a large decline in the value of cryptocurrencies and a rapid collapse of the entire cryptocurrency market. However, the exact opposite happened. Cryptocurrencies still exist today, and some of them have achieved so much value that they are being invested for the long run. Cryptocurrencies are based on a Peer-toPeer system that simbolizes trading directly, without intermediaries or third parties. Transactions within the system are stored in publicly distributed book called a blockchain. The system usses its own unit called Bitcoin. Bitcoin has a decentralized digital currency which implies that there is on central organization like a bank or a state that manages the entire system. Blockchain has a big impact on the world we live in today. As a rule, all the largest global companies such as Walmart, Google, Facebook, IBM use it in some way in their business. If introduced in the right way in the future, the benefits for the users could be significant in terms of higher service speeds and additional security of network communication.
