Abstract

Javni nastupi danas su postali normalna pojava u poslovnom i obrazovnom okruženju, stoga su dobre komunikacijske i prezentacijske vještine nužna karakteristika svake uspješne osobe. Međutim, što kada prezentiranje, iako zvuči jednostavno, postane kompleksan problem povezan sa osobnošću prezentera. S obzirom da ljude karakteriziraju različite crte ličnosti koje utječu na njihovo ponašanje, normalno je da će različito reagirati u stresnim situacijama kao što je držanje javnog govora pred velikim brojem ljudi. Nitko ne želi da ga strah sputava i ograničava u životu, posebno ako je taj strah lako rješiv. Razina ekstrovertiranosti pojedinca ima velik utjecaj na njegovo ponašanje u društvu, pa će se ekstrovertirane osobe osjećati ugodno u gotovo svakoj socijalnoj okolnosti, uključujući javni nastup dok će introverti radije odabrati samoću.
Ovaj rad sadrži temeljne teorijske postulate o strahu od javnog nastupa i osobinama ličnosti s naglaskom na dimenziju ekstrovertiranost. Osim toga, provedeno je istraživanje čiji je cilj istražiti povezanost između ekstrovertiranosti kao osobine ličnosti i straha od javnog nastupa koji se javlja kod pojedinaca. Za uzorak je uzeta studentska populacija koja se sa strahom od javnog nastupa često susreće zbog svojih obrazovnih obveza. Istraživanje je provedeno anketnim upitnikom izrađenim pomoću alata Google Obrasci, dok su dobiveni rezultati obrađeni su u programu Microsoft Excel. Upitnik se sastojao od tri djela, početak je bio usmjeren na prikupljanje općih podataka o ispitaniku, zatim je uslijedio dio koji se bavio osobinama ličnosti (IPIP-NEO, skala ekstraverzija/introverzija) i na kraju dio o iskustvu s javnim nastupom (PRPSA). Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su da postoji negativna korelacija između varijabla, što potvrđuje da ispitanici sa nižim rezultatima na upitniku ličnosti, ostvaruju više rezultate na upitniku straha od javnog nastupa i obrnuto. Također, pokazalo se da postoje određene razlike između ispitanih socio-demografskih obilježja.

Abstract (english)

Public speaking has become a normal occurrence in business and academic environment, so good communication and presentation skills are a necessary for every person who want to be successful. However, what if the presentation, although it sounds simple, becomes a complex problem related to the personality of the speaker. Since people are characterized by different personality traits that affect their behavior, it is normal that they will react differently in stressful situations such as holding public speech in front of a large audience. No one wants fear to restrain and limit them in life, especially if that fear is easily resolved. An individual’s level of extroversion has a large impact on his or her behavior in society, so extroverts will feel comfortable in almost any social circumstance, including public appearances while introverts will prefer solitude.
This paper contains basic theoretical postulates about the fear of public appearance and personality traits with an emphasis on the extroverted dimension. In addition, research was conducted to investigate the association between extrovertedness as a personality trait and fear of public appearance that occurs in individuals. The sample was student population who often face the fear of public appearances due to their educational obligations. The research was conducted with a survey questionnaire created using the Google Forms tool, while the obtained results were processed in Microsoft Excel. The questionnaire consisted of three parts, starting with the collection of general data on the respondents, followed by the part dealing with personality traits (IPIP-NEO, extroversion/introversion scale) and finally the part on experience with public speaking (PRPSA). The obtained results showed that there is a negative correlation between the variables, which confirms that respondents with lower results on the personality questionnaire, achieve higher results on the questionnaire of public appearance and vice versa. Also, it turned out that there are certain differences between the examined sociodemographic characteristics.
