Abstract

Uvođenje eura u Hrvatsku kao jedinstvene valute eliminira potrebe za mjenjačnicom i povezanim troškovima transakcije koji proizlaze iz razlike između kupovnog i prodajnog tečaja i provizije mjenjačnica u Hrvatskoj. Također pojednostavljuje izvršenje plaćanja i poboljšava transparentnost i usporedivost cijena u Hrvatskoj i zemljama članicama. Euro je kao valuta u Hrvatskoj važna jer donosi brojne prednosti za potrošače. Ne samo da smanjuje troškove nego također pomaže potrošačima u donošenju odluka o kupnji, što može biti posebno važno u sektorima s velikom količinom gotovinskih transakcija ili internet kupnje, a posebice je važno za bankovni sektor. Analizom strateških koraka uvođenja eura u Hrvatsku, razvidno je da se ovim procesom ostvaruju određene prednosti i nedostaci. Od istih valja istaknuti kao prednosti redukciju transakcijskih troškova, umanjenje javnog duga i deficita, umanjenje rizika od špekulativnih napada i više razine direktnih javnih investicija. Od nedostataka valja istaknuti potpuni gubitak autonomije vlastite monetarne politike i gubitak vlastite tečajne politike. U odnosu na komparativnu analizu troškova i koristi uvođenja eura u Hrvatsku i njegova utjecaja na bankovni sustav, razvidno je da koristi dominiraju nad troškovima.

Abstract (english)

The introduction of the euro in Croatia as a single currency eliminates the need for an exchange office and the associated transaction costs arising from the difference between the buying and selling exchange rates and commissions of exchange offices in Croatia. It also simplifies payment execution and improves transparency and comparability of prices in Croatia and member countries. The euro is important as a currency in Croatia because it brings numerous advantages for consumers. It not only reduces costs but also helps consumers make purchasing decisions, which can be especially important in sectors with a high volume of cash transactions or online purchases, and is especially important for the banking sector. By analyzing the strategic steps of the introduction of the euro in Croatia, it is clear that this process has certain advantages and disadvantages. Of these, the reduction of transaction costs, reduction of public debt and deficit, reduction of the risk of speculative attacks and higher levels of direct public investments should be highlighted. Among the shortcomings, it should be noted the complete loss of autonomy of one's own monetary policy and the loss of one's own exchange rate policy. In relation to the comparative analysis of the costs and benefits of the introduction of the euro in Croatia and its impact on the banking system, it is clear that the benefits dominate the costs.
