Financial health analysis of the selected companies in the fast fashion industry

Abstract

The subject of this undergraduate thesis is the financial health analysis of the three selected European fast fashion retail companies: Poland’s LPP, Spain’s Inditex and Sweden’s Hennes&Mauritz (H&M) and to assess their financial health, starting from the analysis of the retail sector and the industry and strategy analysis of the fast fashion industry and ending with the theoretical indicators of financial health and the analysis itself. With the use of financial statement analysis instruments, such as horizontal, vertical and ratio analysis, in this undergraduate thesis, several conclusions are drawn about the liquidity, solvency and activity of each company observed, whose data and information were interpreted in terms of and compared to the data and information of other two companies. Because these companies perform the same business activities, this financial health analysis is going to give an insight into the current financial position of the entire fast fashion retail industry in the EU. Surprisingly, despite the rising trend of fast fashion, the results showed that each company represents one financial position on a scale: Poland's LPP's having the worst and Spain's Inditex having the best finacial health and finacial position in the observed period, with Sweden’s Hennes&Mauritz (H&M) being somewhere in the middle.
