Abstract

U današnje vrijeme postoji svojevrsni konsenzus o važnosti ekoloških tema prije svega po pitanju klimatskih promjena. To u prvi plan stavlja jednu od glavnih točki prijepora između raznih zelenih ideologija : "Treba li se ekološku štetu popraviti/spriječiti kroz napredak tehnologije ili kroz kontrolu korištenja same tehnologije?" Glavni cilj ovoga rada je osmisliti agentski model/simulaciju ekonomije gdje se tehnologija i ljudske preferencije mogu, unutar eksperimenta, kontrolirati, kako bi se stekao uvid u utjecaj ekonomskih aktivnosti u okoliš . Radi izolacije utjecaja tehnologije pretpostavlja se da je ekonomija dosegla vrhunac produktivnosti i posljedično može proizvoditi što god hoće neovisno o tome je li zagađuje okoliš i bez ikakvoga troška. Rezultati simulacija modela. impliciraju da isključivo fokusiranje na povećanje produktivnosti kako bi se spustio granični trošak proizvodnje dobara nije nužno dovoljan uvijet za postizanje ekološke održivosti te propagiranje zelenih ideologija može pomoći u usmjeravanju društva prema ekološkoj održivosti.

Abstract (english)

In this current moment there is a consensus about the importance of environmental topics in particular when it comes to climate change. That puts one of the main points of contention between different green ideologies: "Should environmental damage be fixed/prevented through technological improvements or through the control of the use of technologies." at the forefront. The main goal of this article is to create an agent based model of the economy where technology and human preferences can be controlled within the experiment so that it is possible to observe the impact of economic activities on the environment. In order to isolate the impact of technologies it is assumed the economy has reached peak productivity and consequently can produce anything it wants without polluting the planet at zero cost. The results of the simulations of the model suggest that exclusive focus on increasing productivity in order to reduce marginal costs of production is not the only necessary condition to achieve environmental sustainability and propagating green ideologies can help in guiding society towards environmental sustainability.
