Abstract

Ovaj rad daje cjelovit prikaz hrvatske cementne industrije te predstavlja teorijsku i praktičnu
razradu Porterovog modela pet konkurentskih snaga. Provedena industrijska analiza pokazuje
solidan profitni potencijal hrvatske cementne industrije koji se temelji na proizvodima bez pravih
supstituta, maloj opasnosti od pridošlica, umjerenom suparništvu među postojećim konkurentima
te umjerenoj pregovaračkoj moći dobavljača. Atraktivnost industrije umanjuje smanjena
potrošnja, sve moćniji kupci, višak kapaciteta i cjenovne borbe. Snaga koja ima najjači negativni
utjecaj na industrijsku profitabilnost je pregovaračka moć kupaca. Smišljenim strateškim
inicijativama poduzeća u cementnoj industriji mogu utjecati na održavanje i poboljšanje
dugoročne industrijske profitabilnosti.

Abstract (english)

This paper gives a complete overview of the Croatian cement industry and describes theoretical
and practical aspects of the Porter's five forces model. The industry analysis has shown a solid
profit potential of the Croatian cement industry, which is based on products with no substitutes,
low threat of new entrants and only moderate rivalry among existing competitors and bargaining
power of suppliers. Industry attractiveness is limited by reduced consumption, rising power of
buyers, overcapacity and price battles. Force with strongest negative impact on industry
profitability is bargaining power of buyers. Well planned strategic initiatives can help companies
in the cement industry to sustain and increase long term industry profitability.
