Abstract

Ispitivanje implicitnih stavova postaje sve važnija metoda u istraživanjima zbog mnogobrojnih ograničenja eksplicitnih mjera te se prepoznaje potreba za mjerenjem istih i u području menadžmenta. S godinama su razvijeni mnogi testovi za mjerenje implicitnih konstrukata, a najčešće korišten je Test Implicitnih Asocijacija (IAT). IAT je indirektna metoda za mjerenje snage asocijacija među pojmovima. Test zahtijeva razvrstavanje podražaja koji pripadaju različitim kategorijama koristeći samo dvije mogućnosti odgovora, od kojih je svaki dodijeljen dvjema od četiri kategorije. Kratki Test Implicitnih Asocijacija (BIAT) kraća je verzija standardnog IAT-a (koristi samo trećinu ispitivanja). Razvit će se BIAT za mjerenje povezanosti: a) rizika s pozitivno (stavovi prema riziku), b) ja s rizik ili sigurnost (samopoimanje s rizikom) i c) ja s ugodno ili neugodno (samopouzdanje). Uz implicitnu metodu, koristit će se i eksplicitna metoda kojom se procjenjuju dvije vrste rizika: stimulacijski i instrumentalni rizik. Razvijanje BIAT-a kao korisne istraživačke metode ovisit će o ispunjavanju psihometrijskih normi i konstruktivne valjanosti za pojedinačne mjere. U smislu psihometrijskih standarda, tri predložene mjere BIAT-a ocjenjivat će se prema njihovoj unutarnjoj konzistentnosti i njihovoj veličini učinka, prema konvencionalnim kriterijima. U smislu konstruktivne valjanosti, predloženi test procjenjuje implicitno-eksplicitno podudaranje mjera za samopoimanje s rizikom. Pored toga, ako je BIAT valjana mjera sklonosti preuzimanju rizika menadžera, tada bi trebao pokazati očekivani obrazac odnosa s drugim varijablama. U drugim područjima se pokazalo da su IAT mjere samopoimanja
povezane s mjerama samopouzdanja i stavova prema načelima afektivne kognitivne konzistencije. Potvrda ovih teoretski očekivanih obrazaca „uravnoteženog identiteta“ u istraživanju dodat će dokazu konstruktivne valjanosti novorazvijenih mjera BIAT-a.

Abstract (english)

Examining implicit attitudes is becoming an important consideration in research because of the known limitations of explicit measures. The need to measure implicit attitudes in managerial contexts is becoming increasingly recognized. Many tests have been developed over the years to measure implicit constructs and the most widely used is the Implicit Associations Test (IAT). The IAT is a method for indirectly measuring the strengths of associations among concepts. The task requires sorting of stimulus exemplars belonging to four different categories using just two response options, each of which is assigned to two of the four categories. The Brief Implicit Association Test (BIAT) is a shorter version of the standard IAT (one-third of trials). A BIAT will be developed to assess associations of: (a) risk with positivity (attitude towards risk), (b) me with risk or safety (risk self-concept), and (c) me with good or bad (self-esteem). A parallel self-report measure of risk self-concept will be used to assess two risk taking tendencies: stimulating risk and instrumental risk. Establishment of the newly developed BIATs as a useful research method will depend on their meeting the established psychometric and construct validity standards for individual difference measures. In terms of psychometric standards, the three proposed BIATs measures will be evaluated for their internal consistency and their effect sizes, according to conventional criteria. In terms of construct validity, the proposed research design will evaluate implicit-explicit correspondence for risk self-concept measures. In addition, if the BIAT is a valid measure of risk taking propensity in managers, then it should show an expected pattern of relations with other variables. In other domains, IAT measures of self-concepts have been shown to be related to measures of self-esteem and attitudes according to principles of affective–cognitive consistency. The confirmation of these theoretically expected “balance–congruity” patterns in the present study will add to the evidence for construct validity of newly developed BIAT measures.
