Abstract

Regionalne nejednakosti su prisutne u gotovo svim zemljama svijeta, te velika i moćna gospodarstva poput SAD-a i EU nisu iznimke. Kako bi se objasnile regionalne nejednakosti u zemljama potrebno je poznavati njihove gospodarske strukture, odnosno promjene broja zaposlenih u pojedinim djelatnostima. Ovaj diplomski rad primarno je usmjeren na primjenu shift-share analizu u svrhu prikazivanja promjena zaposlenosti u regionalnim gospodarstvima. Rad prikazuje strukturne promjene u regionalnim gospodarstvima koje se održavaju i na gospodarstva SAD-a i Europske unije. Nadalje, rad se bavi i pitanjem procesa relativne deindustrijalizacije u gospodarstvima SAD-a i EU koji je vidljiv iz rezultata shift-share analize. Na temelju rezultata shift-share analize provodi se usporedba regionalnih gospodarskih struktura SAD-a i EU.

Abstract (english)

Regional inequalities are present in almost every country in the world, and large and powerful economies such as the US and the EU are no exception. In order to explain regional inequalities in countries, it is necessary to know their economic structures, ie changes in the number of employees in certain sectors. This paper focuses primarily on the application of shift-share analysis to understand changes in regional economies. The paper presents structural changes in regional economies that are also maintained in the economies of the US and the European Union. Furthermore, the paper also addresses the issue of the relative de-industrialization process in the US and EU economies, as evident from the results of the shift-share analysis. Based on the results of the shift-share analysis, a comparison of the US and EU regional economic structures is carried out.
