Abstract

Turizam i sport su pojave koje datiraju još iz antičkih vremena, no tek nakon Drugog svjetskog rata doživljavaju ekspanziju koja traje još i danas.
Sportsko-rekreacijski turizam je jedan od najbrže rastućih specifičnih oblika turizma. Ljudi postaju sve svjesniji svog slobodnog vremena te traže bijeg od stresne svakodnevnice koja je počela loše utjecati na njihovo psihofizičko zdravlje. Putovanja su postala nikad dostupnija, a modernom turistu više nije dovoljno samo sunce i more, već se traže i drugi oblici aktivnosti koji će omogućiti adekvatan oporavak uma i tijela.
Broj ljudi koji navode sport kao motiv putovanja, kao i broj onih kojih se bave nekom sportsko-rekreativnom aktivnošću tijekom odmora, stalno raste. Turisti motivirani sportom su najčešće obrazovaniji, imućniji i troše više od prosječnih turista. Globalni trendovi u turizmu ukazuju na to da je čovjekova svijest o zdravlju i kvaliteti odmora porasla te da turisti sve više traže aktivni
odmor i sportsko-rekreacijske aktivnosti.

Abstract (english)

Tourism and sport are phenomena that date back to ancient times, but only after the Second World War did they experience an expansion that continues till today.
Sports and recreational tourism is one of the fastest growing special interest tourism. People are becoming more and more aware of their free time and they are looking for an escape from the stressful everyday life that has started to have a bad effect on their psychophysical health. Travel has never been more available and modern tourists are no longer satisfied with only sun and sea. Therefore, they are looking for other activities that will enable adequate recovery of their body and mind.
The number of people that cite sports as a motive of travel, as well as the number of those who engage in some sports and recreational activities during their trip, is only growing. Tourist motivated by sport are most often educated, wealthy and spend more than the average tourist.
Global trends in tourism indicate that the human awareness of their health and quality of time they spend vacationing has increased, and that tourist are increasingly looking for active holidays, as well as sports and recreational activites.
