Abstract

U ovom radu analizira se trenutni poslovni model razvoja turizma u Hrvatskoj. Je li turizam blagoslov ili prokletstvo za Hrvatsku jedna je od dvojbi o kojoj se raspravlja u radu. Prema turističkoj satelitskoj bilanci, turizam izravno i neizravno generira 16,9% bruto dodane vrijednosti u Hrvatskoj u 2016. godini. Ta brojka ukazuje na značaj turizma za Hrvatsku koji je danas suočen s mnogim izazovima kao što su izražena sezonalnost, nedostatak radne snage, nepovoljna struktura smještajnih kapaciteta, veliko oslanjanje na uvoz i niska potrošnja turista. Izražena sezonalnost identificirana je kao najveći ograničavajući čimbenik razvoja turizma koji za sobom povlači sve ostale čimbenike. Smanjivanje ove negativne karakteristike turizma bit će glavni cilj kreatora turističke politike u narednim godinama. Rad se zaključuje s mišljenjem da Hrvatskoj treba novi model turizma, i to onaj koji se oslanja na održivom razvoju.

Abstract (english)

This master thesis provides analysis of current business model of Croatian tourism. Whether tourism is blessing or blight for Croatia is one of the dilemmas that is being discussed in the thesis. According to Tourism Satellite Account, tourism directly and indirectly generates 16,9% of gross value added in Croatia in 2016. That number indicates the significance of tourism for Croatia which today faces many challenges such as pronounced seasonality, lack of labour force, unbalanced structure of accommodation facilities, high reliance on imports and low levels of tourist expenditure. Pronounced seasonality is identified as the biggest restraining factor of tourism development which drags other factors. Reducing that negative characteristic of tourism will be the main goal of tourism policy makers in the upcoming years. The thesis concludes with the opinion that Croatia needs a new tourism model, one that relies on sustainable development.
