Abstract

Iako vrlo profitabilna, riječna krstarenja su nedovoljno zastupljena u turističkoj ponudi. U posljednjih dvadesetak godina njihova popularnost je u znatnom porastu, stoga je cilj ovoga rada usporediti razvoj krstarenja rijekom Nil od prvog krstarenja do danas te komparirati sa sve većom ponudom na još neistraženoj rijeci Mekong. Iako su krstarenja Nilom bila vrlo popularna dugi niz godina, zbog nestabilne političke situacije popularnost je pala, a stabilizacijom političke situacije u području toka rijeke Mekong, razvila se bogata ponuda te je riječni turizam Mekonga doživio procvat. Vijetnam i Kambodža, države kroz koje teče rijeka Mekong, stvaraju nove rute krstarenja kako bi se turistička ponuda dodatno obogatila i unaprijedila, dok se Nilom već dugi niz godina nudi krstarenje na postojeće dvije rute.

Abstract (english)

Although very profitable, river cruises are underrepresented in the tourist offer. In the last twenty years, their popularity has been growing significantly, so the aim of this paper is to compare the development of cruising on the Nile from the first cruise to the present day and compare it with the growing offer on the still unexplored Mekong river. Although Nile cruises have been very popular for many years, due to the unstable political situation, popularity has declined, and with the stabilization of the political situation in the Mekong river, a rich offer has developed and Mekong river tourism has flourished. Vietnam and Cambodia, the countries through which the Mekong river flows, are creating new cruise routes to further enrich and improve the tourist offer, while the Nile has been offering cruises on the existing two routes for many years.
