Abstract

Tema istraživanja ovog diplomskog rada je korištenje biootpada na području Republike
Hrvatske, te potencijal koji biootpad nudi. Zbog povećanih količina koje urbani način života
proizvodi, biootpad ima veliki energetski potencijal i vidljiv je gubitak u energetskom sektoru
S obzirom da se većina biootpada još uvijek odlaže na odlagališta, u radu se detaljnije prikazuje različiti načini gospodarenja biootpadom kao što su biološke obrade, kompostiranje u kompostanama, te uloga kućnog kompostiranja. U radu su korišteni podaci prikupljene domaće i strane literature, sekundarni izvori i statistički podaci objavljeni od strane nadležnih
institucija. Daje se uvid u podatke stanja gospodarenja biootpadom u Hrvatskoj, te koje su dodatne mogućnosti i primjeri dobre prakse koje se mogu primijeniti i na promatranom području u budućnosti.

Abstract (english)

The researched topic of this graduate thesis is the use of biowaste on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, and the potential that biowaste offers. Due to the increased quantities that urban lifestyle produces, biowaste has great energy potential and is a visible loss in the energy sector given the fact that most biowaste is still being landfilled. The paper presents more different ways of biowaste management such as biological treatments, composting in composting plants, and the role of home composting. The paper used data collected from domestic and foreign literature, secondary sources and statistics published by the competent institutions. It gives an insight into the statistical data of biowaste management in Croatia and presents some additional possibilities and examples of good practice that can be applied in the observed area in the future.
