Abstract

Osobna potrošnja otkriva koliko kućanstva troše na trenutnu potrošnju u odnosu na štednju za budućnost. Više razine potrošnje prevode se u veći rast BDP-a u kratkom roku. S druge strane, veća stopa štednje dobra je za dugoročno ekonomsko zdravlje. Potrošnja dobara i usluga primarna je komponenta ekonomskog blagostanja i, kao takva, primarni pokazatelj životnog standarda. Bogatstvo i prihod dostupni su za potporu potrošnje, danas i u budućnosti (kroz uštedu koju taj prihod generira). Dohodak, potrošnja i bogatstvo tri su dimenzije šireg koncepta ekonomskog blagostanja i važno je razumjeti te međusobne odnose. Osobna potrošnja u 2009. godini je iznosila 52 321 milijuna kuna dok u 2014. godini iznosi 51 314 milijuna kuna. Potrošnja potrošača u Hrvatskoj porasla je na 62634 milijuna kuna u drugom kvartalu 2022. godine s 58135 milijuna kuna u prvom kvartalu 2022. godine. Nadalje, u 2020. godini je došlo do smanjenja potrošnje uslijed pandemije COVID-19 no u 2021. godini se bilježi polagan oporavak. Potpuni opseg utjecaja COVID-19 na navike europskih potrošača u 2020. postaje jasan dok se države bore za oporavak od novih sojeva virusa. Zatvaranja, socijalno distanciranje i ograničenja nebitnih poslovnih aktivnosti smanjili su potrošnju kućanstava za 8% diljem kontinenta – učinak koji nije viđen od financijske krize 2008. godine. Kao i u prošlim krizama, državni propisi mogu imati značajan utjecaj na snagu i oblik oporavka potrošačke potražnje.

Abstract (english)

Personal consumption reveals how much households spend on current consumption versus saving for the future. Higher levels of consumption translate into higher GDP growth in the short term. On the other hand, a higher savings rate is good for long-term economic health. Consumption of goods and services is a primary component of economic well-being and, as such, a primary indicator of living standards. Wealth and income are available to support consumption, today and in the future (through the savings that income generates). Income, consumption and wealth are three dimensions of the broader concept of economic well-being and it is important to understand these interrelationships. Personal consumption in 2009 was HRK 52,321 million, while in 2014 it was HRK 51,314 million. Consumer spending in Croatia increased to HRK 62,634 million in the second quarter of 2022 from HRK 58,135 million in the first quarter of 2022. Furthermore, in 2020 there was a decrease in consumption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but in 2021 a slow recovery is recorded. The full extent of the impact of COVID-19 on European consumer habits in 2020 is becoming clear as countries struggle to recover from new strains of the virus. Lockdowns, social distancing and restrictions on non-essential business activities reduced household spending by 8% across the continent – an effect not seen since the 2008 financial crisis. As in past crises, government regulations can have a significant impact on the strength and shape of the recovery in consumer demand.
