Abstract

Prvi komercijalni izvor nafte, otkriven je 1859. godine u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i od tada pokreće svijet, utječe na svaki aspekt modernog života, istovremeno donosi rast, razvoj i blagostanje, ali i političke napetosti, nemire i ratove.
Nafta, crno zlato, kao temeljni resurs modernog društva ima izrazito veliku stratešku važnost za svako gospodarstvo koje se temelji na nafti i naftnim derivatima. Poremećaj na naftnom tržištu, bez obzira je li uzrokovan na strani ponude ili potražnje, ima snažan kratkoročni učinak na makroekonomske varijable, dok dugoročni učinci ovise od dužini trajanja poremećaja, ali i sposobnosti države odnosno gospodarstva da smanji ovisnost o ovom resursu u kratkom roku. Za gospodarstva koja svoj rast u velikoj mjeri temelje na nafti i pratećoj industriji i koja se ne mogu prilagoditi u kratkom vremenu, poremećaj na naftnom tržištu može imati velike negativne posljedice.
Svijet kakav danas poznajemo produkt je nafte i njenih derivata. Cjelokupni napredak modernih ekonomija od kraja 19. stoljeća do danas, njihova snaga i blagostanje ovise o nafti. U budućnosti, tehnološkim napretkom čovječanstva očekuje se postepeno smanjenje potrošnje nafte i ovisnosti o njoj. Nafta će kao sirovina polagano gubiti na vrijednosti kada čovječanstvo riješi energetsku ovisnost o nafti.

Abstract (english)

The first commercial source of oil was discovered in 1859 in the United States and since then it has been driving the world, it affects every aspect of modern life, by bringing growth, development and prosperity, but political tensions, unrest and wars as well.
Oil, the black gold, as a fundamental resource of modern societies has great strategic importance for any economy based on oil and petroleum products. The disturbance in the oil market, whether caused by the supply or demand side, has a strong short-term effect on macroeconomic variables, while long-term effects depend on the duration of the disturbance, and the ability of the state or economy to reduce its dependence on this resource. For economies that base their growth largely on oil and related industries and cannot adjust in the short term, a disturbance in the oil market can have major negative consequences.
The world as we know it today is a product of oil and its derivatives. The overall progress of modern economies from the late 19th century to the present day, their strength and prosperity depend on oil. In the future, the technological progress of mankind is expected to gradually reduce oil consumption and dependence on it. Oil, as a raw material, will slowly lose in value when humanity solves its energy dependence on oil.
